Every night, while the City sleeps, restaurants, grocers, caterers, hotels and other food-related businesses get their finest fruit and vegetables from nearly two dozen independent merchants right here in San Francisco at The SF Market. Conventional and organic. Ordinary and specialty. We have it all, and have been the Bay Area’s premier source for exceptional produce for over 150 years!
As a critical outlet for California farmers, and a pillar of the Bay Area’s food economy for decades, many of our multi-generational merchants serve the same companies their parents and grandparents served. Our merchants currently support over 500 jobs at The Market, and thousands more at their customers establishments. Since 2013, The SF Market has been a nonprofit social enterprise. With over 485,000 sq. ft. of food-focused warehouse and logistics space in San Francisco’s Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood, our economic impact is significant. Our award-winning Food Recovery Program, has redirected over 9 million pounds of quality produce to food-insecure Bay Area residents – fresh food that otherwise would have headed to the landfill.

CURRENT HIGHLIGHTS
We were incredibly honored to host Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi at The SF Market on April 23rd for a critical conversation focused on supporting our San Francisco small business community. The Speaker Emerita called small businesses the “lifeblood of the American economy” and, as a community of small businesses, we could not agree more!
A huge thank you to our friends at Arcadios Produce for hosting us in their business, giving the Speaker Emerita a behind the scenes look a produce merchant’s operation, and sharing their inspiring story around growing their family business right here at The SF Market.
